Gaylord Palms Nearby Attractions
One of the greatest benefits of staying at the Gaylord Palms Resort and Convention Center in Kissimmee, FL is the hotel's close proximity to the Walt Disney World resort. Gaylord Palms is only 1.5 miles from Disney World main gate but it feels far removed from the throng of tourist crowds in other areas of town.
Walt Disney World is home to four theme parks, two water parks, and the Downtown Disney shopping, dining and entertainment center. Magic Kingdom is the original Disney World theme park with the iconic Cinderella castle, character dining and classic rides such as It's a Small World and Space Mountain. Another enormously popular Disney park is Epcot, which has its own famous landmark in the form of the giant Spaceship Earth globe, as well as international dining and entertainment at the World Showcase.
Disney's relatively newer theme parks boast the wildest rides at the WDW resort. Disney's Hollywood Studios is home to the Twilight Zone-inspired Tower of Terror and Aerosmith's Rock and Roll Roller Coaster. Disney's Animal Kingdom boasts one of Orlando's most intense roller coasters--Expedition Everest. And don't forget the immersive experience of Disney World's two water parks--Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach, featuring the jaw-dropping Summit Plummet.
Beyond the House of Mouse, thrill seekers and roller coaster enthusiasts who come to Orlando don't have to travel too far to find what they're looking for. Nearby Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure are known for their wilder rides featuring Spiderman, the Incredible Hulk, and the dinosaurs of Jurassic Park. These days Islands of Adventure is best known for the elaborately designed Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Add to that the Universal Studios CityWalk entertainment, shopping and dining venue, and visitors will have a full day and night of fun ahead of them.
For those Orlando visitors who prefer more aquatic adventures, SeaWorld, Discovery Cove and Aquatica offer plenty of surf, sun (and even a little bit of sand) and these unique theme parks. SeaWorld combines a dedicated kids area, live shows, interactive experiences, thrill rides and all things related to Shamu, the killer whale. Over at Discovery Cove, visitors have the once in a lifetime opportunity to frolic with the dolphins in a tranquil setting with minimal crowds. Black and white Commerson's Dolphins are the main attraction at Aquatica, SeaWorld's water park--visitors can take the dolphin plunge and glide past these majestic sea creatures.
After a full day at any one of Orlando's world class attractions, there are several dinner theaters nearby that are a feast for all of the senses. Arabian Knights and Medieval Times are historic, equestrian themed dinner shows located in Kissimmee, close to the Gaylord Palms. The Pirates Dinner Theatre is right off of the tourist hub known as International Drive, and promises a swashbuckling good time to everyone.
Gaylord Palms manages to put guests in the middle of the action while avoiding the tourist crowds. Travelers looking for a luxurious oasis in the center of Florida's busiest tourist destination will be pleasantly surprised by how easy it is to access all of Orlando's world famous attractions.
